A common problem among beekeepers is heavy lifts of the treasure boxes.
Lifts are made when checking on the queen as well as when
the honey is extracted, where each box weighs approximately 20 kg.
An investigation of improving the ergonomics resulted in a dividable treasure box.
In winter and early spring, the outside temperature can dramatically change during
short intervals of time. Bees consume more food with increasing temperatures, making
it difficult for beekeepers to ensure sufficient food supply thus result in starvation.
Temperature variations can also trick the bees to leave the hive too early in the winter
and die due to unexpected cold. The proposed solution to this problem was a regulated brood box.
